fyi. DS14 was admitted to Vassar and Wesleyan amongst others, accepted Wes and just last week was offered a place at Amherst from the waitlist. We visited Amherst from our West Coast state, I think that said ALOT to the admission committee, DS chatted with the senior doing the tour and he gave us his email, on returning home DS14 emailed the senior to thank him and copied the regional admissions dean and the dean of admissions to show his committment to attend, We re-iterated his intention to attend if admitted from the waitlist and outlined how he was going to use his summer productively including a couple of things he had done since applying, ie: new items to what was on the app.
A week or so later, lo and behold he gets a phone call, offer and a week to decide to attend. He needed about 10 minutes or less to decide even before the financial aid package came about 5 days later!, package arrived in the portal 24 hours before he had to advise admissions of his intention to attend by phone. However his financials were $2K less than his already accepted/committed college, he emailed and advised the fin aid office of this, they said they would not match. DS14 accepted the offer and then 2 hours later, he got an email from admissions stating they were improving his award by the $2K to match previously accepted college offer, DS would have gone regardless to A, but the fact that they matched his offer when admitted from the wait list, blew me away.

Moral of the story, stay hopeful and really dazzle them with new info, visit if you can and state that the school remains you first choice. Good luck
