@vishalmittal, to add to what @bluegrn6 said, I think it has always been to where you are assigned roommates usually with another BA/MD student (unless you specifically ask differently) at the (relatively) new dorms on Oak Street http://www.umkc.edu/housing/halls_and_rates/oak_street_hall.asp, (I missed it by 1 year, darn it!) It makes sense when you need to study for the same classes, getting up for Docent, etc. and eventually when you want to move out to apartments, and might need a roommate after Year 1 Spring.
Not that there aren’t other great people who are regular UMKC undergrads you could room with as well, but it can be a little more risk.
