I thought I’d post the answers to a few frequently asked questions about transferring to Cornell since many people will likely ask these as time goes on.

  • Whenever someone says “TO” they are referring to something called the “Transfer Option.” Basically, the TO allows students rejected as first-year applicants to earn a guaranteed spot at Cornell after one year of college elsewhere.

  • Although the overall acceptance rate for transfers has generally been around 17%, this statistic is inflated for a few important reasons. The acceptance rate for non-TO applicants is estimated to be around 7-9%

  1. Most transfers to Cornell are people with the TO
  2. For non-TO transfers, most acceptances are to the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS)
  • Generally, except for the CALS, transferring to any other Cornell school, except as a TO applicant, is very difficult.

  • Last year, decisions started to be released on Tuesday, April 20. Batches of decisions were released every Tuesday after that date.

  • Yes, if your checklist disappears a decision is imminent.

  • The PIN trick does not work, don’t waste your time with it.

Thank you

does anyone know if cals applicants from New York are more likely to get in compared to applicants who aren’t New York residents?

Does anyone not TO havre access to Cornell portal yet

I am pretty sure almost no one has access to the portal regardless of TO.

Not yet. I’ve been checking it daily.

Based on last year’s thread, we should all have access to our checklists within the next week.

I got my checklist today. Portal also says they will start releasing decisions in mid April on a rolling basis. Feels earlier than past years?
