What programs have the most difficult secondary admission to or weed-out from major?
For “most difficult secondary admission”, this would only be for programs where secondary admission is the usual route into the major (as opposed to direct admission which leaves little or no space for students changing into the major later).
Examples:
Difficult secondary admission:
- Texas A&M, computer science, computer engineering, biomedical engineering: ETAM process has 3.75 college GPA for automatic admission, competitive otherwise. For the most popular engineering majors, admission other than automatic with 3.75 college GPA is very unlikely (often none admitted). TAMU ETAM statistics - #172 by pbleigh
- Many non-direct-admission nursing majors: example from CSU Sacramento: https://www.csus.edu/college/health-human-services/nursing/_internal/_documents/app_pool_stat.pdf
Weed-out from major:
- Arizona State University, (direct admission) nursing: must maintain a 3.50 college GPA every semester: Traditional Prelicensure Clinical Nursing Program | Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation
