Hey guys, so this question is for current students. A few days ago I found out that in the first days we'll have to take the Quantitative Skills Assessment test, and I was wondering if it is an equally difficult or harder test than the SAT? Also, what does this test? does it test one ability to deal with math problems or actual knowledge about algebra, trigonometry, and such? thank you very much!!!

if you passed high school math, then you’ll be fine. I hadn’t touched math for all summer long, and the test threw me off because it was more simple than i thought.

The questions are all multiple choice, and it’s basically like SAT math with a few SAT II math included here and there… A lot of people were freaking out, but everyone passed. I think out of the 500 students who take the test, only 20 or so don’t pass.

Breathe, esdenti. You’ll be just fine Can’t wait for you to come to campus!

What happens if you don’t pass, lol? Rescind (xD) or remedial?

If you don’t pass the quantitative assessment, you take MATH 102 (Algebra 2/Pre-Calculus). I have one friend who took the course, it is awesome because it is a tutorial (only 2 students meet with the teacher at one time) so the students receive a lot of individual attention. You have to pass MATH 102 to take some classes like physics, biology, chemistry, and maybe economics. Truly, though, don’t worry about it! Also, if you have taken AP math (Calculus or Statistics) or taken SAT IIs in math, they will factor that into your math placement.

If you’ve taken AP math, you shouldn’t be worried about the q test.

Nothing to worry about at all. It’s maybe 5 or 6 questions, if you have a background in math you will be fine. If you really are very unfamiliar with math (zero calculus, zero alg II, zero trig) and do not pass the quantitative test there is a class you would have to take before taking any quantitative classes. It is nothing to worry about :)

Once you pass the Q test, do they place you based on APs or do you have to take another placement test?
