While we certainly take such information into consideration, we have no special preferences in our admission process for students who have siblings who have attended Stanford.

I am sure it does put one at an advantage. Else why would they even care to ask?
My son who just applied REA, his grandpa (my father) is a Stanford grad. I think it acts as a tie-breaker among similar candidates.
