Recs:
Excellent One from priest One from English teacher One from Math teacher All 3 asked me to write my recs, I didn’t even have to ask them
One thing I stressed in my application was my intellectual curiosity btw… my teacher rec’s will talk all about that
Please chance me for each of the 7 schools (all are REGULAR DECISION)
To me, I think that your extracurricular activities are quality, but your test scores and GPA may hurt your chances for some schools; however, I come from an extremely competitive public school, so all our test scores and GPA stuff is unnecessarily higher than many schools.
But, here’s my opinion on it:
Holy Cross and GW seem like target schools
NYU could be a stretch? Everyone that I know that got accepted were really artsy/were creatively inclined with a bunch of awards.
The others seem like reach schools because of the lower GPA (I was just looking at averages), but then again your circumstances may account for that!
Good luck! You’re gonna get into somewhere and do great things!
Well your chances are quite slim (Even slimmer than my waist, which is pretty small) Your essays are too cliche, you have a chance though, untapped potential. Based on your choices, don’t expect rejection. Get more involved in the german community, (has helped me) good luck sir
German community??? What are you talking about?
@nicolas23 Very impressive extracurriculars. It really makes you stand out among the applicants. The one thing that might lower your chances is your GPA which is a bit low. I’d say you’ve got good chances at NYU, Holy Cross, and GW. I agree with pikach that the rest may be reach schools. I like your essay…
Yeah, pretty sure I got rejected from Notre Dame because of that. My school is elite and private so I hope they look at that. I could’ve easily gotten a 4.3 at my local public one.
@Yayeducationlol
The SAT is fine for all of these schools but the GPA is a bit low.
Emory College - Reach/Low reach
Davidson - Reach/Low reach
NYU - Low reach
Wake Forest - Low reach
Holy Cross - Low reach/high match
GWU - High match/match
Oxford College - High match/match
@prezbucky Really appreciate the input!
@HarvardBound50 Read above
You have great ECs that match perfectly and demonstrate your PoliSci interest. That and your ethnicity surely make you a competitive applicant for the schools you listed, although places like Emory and NYU could be small reaches. And it’s a great sign that all of your teachers asked you if they can write your letters, so you’re going to get some stellar recommendations from them as well.
I still recommend that you try applying to more reach colleges if you can just to see how you end up. Try explaining your lower GPA and I believe you have a solid chance for PoliSci. Good luck!
@thecomeback90201
My highest reach was Notre Dame and I didn’t get in EA, so I’m counting on these now. Thx for the positivity though
Your ECs are excellent and will definitely help you stand out. I think you should get into NYU, Davidson, Holy Cross, GW and Wake Forest.
GW is very difficult in my opinion. I have three friends each with higher stats than you (not saying it isn’t possible) who did not get in. That’s just my experience first hand but I am sure you are a great student! On the other hand, I had a friend who got admitted to NYU full scholarship last year with slightly higher stats than you, so anything is possible!
Emory: low reach
Emory (Oxford): match
Wake Forest: match
Davidson: match
NYU: reach
GW: low reach/reach
your extracurriculars are amazing, you have great awards too, and pretty good SAT score, the only weakness really is your GPA
GW: Match
NYU: Low Reach
Davidson: Reach
WF: Match
E(O): Match
E: Reach
I’m not very familiar with the schools except for Emory so I’ll chance you back the best that I can on that one. The SAT score is good for Emory. It may be the GPA that would hold you back there. The EC’s are all very impressive. Best of luck!
Emory College - reach
Davidson - reach
NYU - low reach
Wake Forest - low reach
Holy Cross - likely
GWU - match
Oxford College - match
SAT is fine, but GPA might weigh you down a bit

Wake Forest - low reach
Holy Cross - low reach
GWU - match
Oxford College - match
I think they’re all either low reaches (especially schools like Emory and Davidson) or matches for you; it really just depends on the applicant pool this year. You’ve done all you can for the past 17 yrs, and fingers crossed that you get into every school you apply to. Enjoy senior year while you can.
