What does it take to get into Tulane?

I was wondering if some people already accepted to Tulane would share their stats in order to help me know whether or not I am Tulane material. I understand you'll never know until you apply, but I'm a nervous wreck about this school.

This link will be more helpful than random "stats" being posted:

<a href="http://www.tulane.edu/%7Eadmiss/admission/prospective/entering/student_profile.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.tulane.edu/%7Eadmiss/admission/prospective/entering/student_profile.html</a></p>

The direct link above did not work, so here's the info:

Tulane enrolls 5,741 undergraduates. The university's graduate and professional schools enroll 4,179 students. The student body is as diverse as it is far-traveled, since 75 percent of students come from locations over 500 miles away.

Admission to Tulane is highly competitive, and evaluators look for high levels of achievement in all areas. The middle 50 percent of the class enrolling for the Fall 2002 term have SAT scores between 1260 and 1390 (ACT equivalent range 28-31).

Approximately 61 percent of enrolling freshmen ranked in the top 10 percent of their high school class; more than 75 percent ranked in the top 25 percent; and 95 percent were in the top half of their class. In addition to being strong academically, Tulane's freshman class is both geographically and ethnically diverse.

could someone please tell me if my stats are high enough to recieve any kind of merit based aid.

SAT - V-620, M-710 Composite 1330
ACT - composite 30
GPA Weighted is 4.3
Unweighted is 3.99
I have taken 10 AP courses(A's in everything cept for AP Physics C)
I am ranked 14 out of 397
I have decent essays and very good recs
I have tons of EC's i dont have time to list them all but they include the basics like national honor society, President of Mu Alpha Theta, Captain soccer team, etc.

I believe the deadline has passed or is close to expiring for merit based aid.

1350 and a 31 are the quoted numbers for the lowest tier of merit awards...it's a great school looking for great students and you've got the numbers to get in. Prepare a great package these next few days and submit it. If you get in hopefully Tulane will help you find a way to pay...

The only deadline that passed is the Dean's (Dec. 15th), the Distiguished Scholars and Founders are considered for all applicants as they examine applications...and Soccerrulz, Tulane has need based grants. Fill out the paperwork and see what happens...

I applied back in October, and i have already been accepted. I have just received full scholarships to a couple of state schools, but i really want to go to Tulane. I cant go to Tulane if i dont get that lowest tier of scholarships. Thats what i was asking.

Congrats!!! Cross your fingers about Tulane...

tulane has need based scholarships and many scholars available via their alumni. I recieve a scholarship from their alumni.

Good luck Christopher!

Soccerrulz...the scholarship stats are just typical numbers and guidelines...your rank and GPA may get you the Founders...the admissions office will look at the strength of your HS and your class schedule...high grades at a very competitive school will help you a lot...good luck...

thanks frazzleddad and michael

Yeah, you do have a very good chance at getting DSA.Being international with a 1350 SAT I,I was awarded DSA even though I did not apply for it.Keep your fingers crossed!

Tulane is aggressively in the hunt for top students and very anxious to up its yield of highly qualified applicants. Your class rank and GPA are excellent and your SAT scores are very good but not great by Tulane standards. The school basically is using its scholarship money as a discounting technique to "buy" the highest number of highly qualified students it possibly can.

If I were you and I wanted to go to Tulane badly and getting some scholarship money was going to make the difference I would definitely write a letter to the Dean of Admissions and tell him just that. Wouldn't hurt to include any offers from other schools. Tulane is unlikely to be able to match the price tag of a state school but then there are few state schools that can match the education you can get at Tulane.

Don't be afraid to ask for what you need. If the school didn't want you they wouldn't accept you in the first place. Below are links to two articles you should read. Both are a couple of years old but still very relevant.

Tulane values leadership a lot. They give a $1,000 micro-scholarship to students for every leadership position they have in high school.

What? This thread is almost 10 years old, I think those inquiring have graduated by now! And if my Tulane offered "Micro scholarships’ to every student for every leadership position they held in high school, they would be bankrupt!

Google it :-)

Here is the only Tulane communication that mentions micro-scholarships that I can find. https://tulane.edu/news/releases/pr_011614.cfm?RenderForPrint=1</a>. It mentions micro-scholarships at the very end. Here is a link talking about these micro-scholarships in general. https://www.raise.me/</a> I cannot find anywhere that says that there is a $1000 award for every leadership position. I am sure there has to be some upper limit.

I’ve seen old posts resurrected, but this may be a record. You realize it has been dormant over 9 years?
