Bad Senior Grades??

My semester grades will most likely be 2 As and 4 A-s or 3 As and 3A-s at best…at worst it’ll be 2As, 2A-s, and 2B+s… The rest of all my grades has been As and 1 or 2 A-s for my entire high school career. My GPA is 3.985 currently, but I’m pretty sure it’ll take a beating with this…This semester has been particularly bad because I was sick and missed out on classes like every other week… What should I do about this? ;A; I know that some colleges have a special notes section ~ should I use this to explain why my grades are such a disaster compared to my other grades?? And how bad of an impact will this have on their decision?.. especially UC Berkely ;A;

No, you should not attempt to explain why your grades are a “disaster.” (Admissions doesn’t take hyperbole well.) Even at their worst, they’re way above average and the effect on your GPA will be minor.

But won’t look like I’ve been slacking off in senior year? that’s my main concern…

Slacking off is C’s, D’s and F’s. You are fine.

UCs do not consider Senior year grades in admissions decisions.

I don’t think it’s a disaster

UC’s do not consider Senior grades for admission purposes but to maintain your provisional admission if accepted, you want to avoid getting too many C’s, no D’s or F’s. Your grades are fine so no worries.

No. Your explanation will be viewed as best as making excuses and at worst as whining; neither will serve you well. Nor will calling a B+ a “disaster;” that is just disingenuous.
