has the 07 application for transfer been out yet? i saw the 06 and its essay question is ridiculous. they want you to keep the essay to approximatly 250 words!! thats not an essay, thats like a paragraph for the "why i want to transfer," and another for the "my contribution." i dont get it, how do they expect me to write something that short? if i submit an essay 500-600 words will they discard it?

plz someone answer me

No, the 2007 application is not available yet. I think if this years essays are also 250 words, then you should write approx. 250 words! It isn't hard to keep your writing to the required amount and I think you would be smart to follow the directions. I read my daughter's essays and they were short and to the point.

yea i suppose its just man 250 words!! thats two short paragraphs, i guess UNC is not a big fan of essays.

250 words is plenty to get your point across, just don't screw around.

You need to understand that 250 words is, like chillmandan said, enough to get your point across. It's the clarity of your thoughts, along with your structure that can/will enable you to produce an awesome essay that could possibly top your 500 word essay. I remember when I had to write my 250 word essay; my first draft was around 600 words or so. FINALLY I had it down to nearly 250 words. It's always better to start out with more than you need, because you'll wind up cutting something out of your essay. If you START with 250 words you'll be kicking yourself to find more stuff to put in there. Don't limit yourself too much when writing your essay, but still keep in mind that word limit. Remember, quality, not quantity!

& Abe, I don't recommend writing a 500-600 word essay for your 250 word essay... because admissions probably won't read it... or it will be a big strike against you for not following directions.

The 2007 app has been out for a couple of weeks.

I believe the OP was interested in the transfer application which is not available yet.
