Alright, well I just got denied from Georgetown where I was really expecting acceptance. I'm only applying to five schools regular and if I get denied from all of them I will be attending my safety. Tell me what you think my chances are at these five schools. Do you think I will get into one because that is honestly all I need.

UVA
UNC (applied EA)
Upenn (wharton)
Dartmouth
Columbia
Cornell (AEM)

because that’d probably be one of the main reasons ye got rejected from georgetown if any…they’re one of 2/3 schools in the states who specifically want 3 SAT 2s

w/o sat 2s its hard to say anything cept all of the schools are reaches except UVA which is a high match… i dunno about UNC to chance ye there but ye…

You didn’t get rejected from Georgetown - you got deferred, and if you did not submit the required SAT IIs, then the decision on your application was an easy one. Plain and simple - the admission committee was seeking additional information. The admission rate at Georgetown this year will be around 17%, and with your record, and the required SAT IIs, I think you would have a reasonable shot. No matter where you apply, never make an admissions committee’s job easy by not submitting the proper information. Luck can be an important ingredient, but it is persistence that gives the broth its flavor.

I wish you the best of luck in the admission process.

your complaint is that umich is cold?! nearly all the schools listed here are pretty cold…with the exception of unc and uva, although uva can get pretty cold in the winter (not so sure about unc)

UVA - Should get in, but I’ve heard of a 2390er get rejected. In/Waitlist.
UNC -Yikes, you’re OOS, reach. In/Waitlist
UPenn - Reject
Columbia - Reject
Dartmouth - Waitlist/Reject (Small chance of getting in)
Cornell - Reject
I could be wrong, and you might get into all of the above schools.

Basically, the two OOS schools you’re applying are the hardest to get into (Maybe easier than UCB/UCLA). I wouldn’t count on definitely getting into those, unless your SAT IIs are amazing. Also, for the schools you’re applying to (especially the Ivy leagues), your extra curricular activities are very weak(compared the the people that actually get in). I read on the UVA website that the last day they accept test dates is Jan 10, but maybe I’m wrong.

Your GPA is on the lower side of the Ivy Leagues also.

It would have been better to apply to some safeties, like your instate schools. Or even some mid match schools like Umich, GT, etc.

Yeah I don’t know about the January SAT II dates, I am asking on the UVA thread about that. But I mean, if it doesn’t, and we get deferred to any college, we can send the scores as additional information. If we can’t sent it during the main admissions process, it can be supplementary if we get deferred.
