1/8th Native American

If you aren't a member of a tribe, don't bother. They will probably see if you have done anything related to your heritage which you havent, therefore the hook mostly goes down the drain. Commodore- that's a little offensive.

My friend's sister got a full ride to UM for some scholarship (not a UMich one, an outside one) that was for 'native american' students, and she was 1/8th. Not sure what tribe though. And their family isn't active or on a reservation or anything(they may go to a couple meetings if they feel motivated, that's about it).

Hell, I know a white kid on an African-American scholarship.

If it's a "Check all that apply" thing, I would check it. If you only get to pick one, don't.

The BIA will not offer a blood quantum card unless you are 1/4; however, each tribe has their own "rules" for whom they accept as members. Most tribes of which I am aware consider those who are 1/8 to 1/16 as members. My friend is 1/16 Iroquois and he has been accepted by the tribe as a member.

im really late on this but you are recognized by the USA as native american when you are 1/16th.

I am 1/16th :)
