I’m deciding whether I should take a B this semester but end with a 3.94 or ask for a D and take the class again to get an A.
Seriously? Take the B. You still have a competitive GPA for the UC’s.
B
Funniest post of the day. OP, you aren’t serious, are you?
It’s not funny. I planned to do the same during Fall 2019. Because the failing grade will not be counted toward the cumulative GPA (there is a limit on how many times we can do that for failing grades), luckily, I could file a petition to drop the class during week 7 (proceeded in week 8).
I think I can explain why I failed that class in the essay, whereas my GPA was perfect instead of getting a B because of my mental health in the most comfortable class, which was hard for many of my classmates, but I got an easy A.
I was embarrassed for a second but I was thinking the same thing as Bibihcmvn. Are academic renewals more forgivable compared to B’s until a certain amount then? Maybe no more than 2?
If you earned a B how can you ask for a D? Academic renewal is for students who fail. I wouldn’t try to explain one faing grade and I wouldn’t ask a professor to change a B to a failing grade if you want to be taken seriously. How would they justify failing you? It seems like failing students who earned passing grades would violate accreditation rules.
Take the B. Do you really want to take the class again and do everything all over again? what if you get the same grade? lol
You can certainly craft an explanation but, as noted here by the replies, it likely would not provide a better story.
People overthink the 4.0 vs a 3.9. It’s folly to fail. That grade SHOWS on your transcript even retaking or getting an AR. Do what you want but it sure isn’t what I’d do.
