1 Day Suspension

As a yearbook editor, I overlooked a “joke” that another classmate had added to the index and let it be published. We both received suspensions: one day for me, and him, three days.

This happened after I had already been conditionally accepted and submitted the SIR.

How will a 1 day suspension affect my admissions? Will I be rescinded?

edit: I’m a high school senior

If I were you, and this really was not my fault AT ALL, I would actually take it up with the high school. Yes, as editor you are responsible for the content of the yearbook, but I’ve never heard of a high school publication that does not have a faculty advisor, who should have been the last one looking everything over before publication.

I have no idea how this will affect your acceptance, but I feel like if worst comes to worst, as long as you honesty explain the situation, you should be fine.

I purposely overlooked it as I didn’t think much of it so I’m still at fault.

Tried negotiating with the admins, but unfortunately the “joke” was interpreted differently than what he intended and counted as bullying.

My suspension notice says damaging school property and defying authority, since I knew about it and let it slide. (I was completely honest with them)

Our adviser and rep didn’t catch it as it was small and in the index.
