does someone know where to get the boots? if its in the cadet area at the normal issue place, u will not be able to access it. but if its in a-hall or somewhere, then i would recommend it. or u could check at peterson or shriver possibly

You would definitely have to be escorted to the place where they issue boots. Even if you are registered for orientation, you still need a cadet escort.

They keep the boots under the terrazzo. Escort needed.

Boots are next to the replacement store. Before you hit the stairs to go to flight issue, its the door to the right of the stairs.

how does the process go about buying boots? like do we all figure out what size we need there or should we come having a pretty good idea?

Have some idea (like know your shoe size!)-- but you'll be trying them on at the Academy and can easily exchange if they're too tight or too loose. They will have plenty for you to choose from!

Bring boot socks if you can from someplace like REI or Sports authority. That was you can gauge the size better. Make sure they aren't too loose or too tight, both could cause blisters. They come in narrow, normal, and wide in each size as well, so, for example, if they are the right length, but too narrow, ask for a wide.

If you have well fitted and broken in boots, BCT will be much nicer! Basics usually march an average of 3-5miles a day (not including any running) and are almost always on their feet.

Only time you will sit between reveille and TAPS is at meals and if you have an hour long briefing sometime. Otherwise, always standing, ALWAYS.

wow, how bad was it the first week? I mean you must of been so sore.

i was fine. i had bought the boots ahead of time. i would wear them around the house for a little at a time. when they felt pretty good on for a couple hours, i went running in them. although it looks ridiculous running outside in shorts, a t-shirt, and boots, it made basic better b/c i didn't have to deal with blisters

I wore them to school and did some running in them. I was fine. (My issued athletic shoes were actually less comfortable when I first got them!)

I didn't run, but I went to school in them. Mine were too big, so I blistered. From standing all day, my feet went numb all of BCT (helped to not be able to feel the blisters on my big toes!). But ya, pretty sore the first week...

Yeah Hornetguy, but now you get to wear corfams -- then end of shining dress shoes (at least) ! ;)

As has been said here before, be aware that boots even slightly too small can lead to foot problems serious enough to get you turned back. If there is even a possibility that your boots are too small, get another pair. They are not likely to stretch any significant amount. The DI at orientation said boots should be broken in by marching in them, because that's one thing you'll be doing a lot of. He pointed out that marching is a lot different from just walking.

AFDAD, I not only got corframs, but I now have corcoran boots! I have 3 layers of leather luster on them, so no more shining them but once every couple months when they need a new layer of leather luster. I already put my old issued boots and low quarters in storage. good riddens. :)

Marching isn't really that different from walking, unless you strut in some ungodly manner. If you walk a lot in them, then despite what TSgt Bell said, you will be ok.

Way to go Hornetguy!! Ahh, to be recognized!

Hornetguy, what model are your Corcoran's? Can appointee's wear them or must we use the issued boots?

I assume you like them better than the Belleville 700's?

You can't wear them until you're recognized.
