I have a solid 9-11 GPA (3.97 UW, approx. 4.3 W), but the college app process is wreaking havoc on my senior year grades:

AP Calc: B (86)
Architectural Design: A
AP Economics: B (87)
AP Spanish Lit.: A
English 12: A
American Government: A
AP Environmental Science: B (84)

...I'd like to spend time perfecting my essays and finishing my UC App, but I don't want to spend time further ruining any slight chance I have with poor grades on the Mid-Year Report...Any experience/suggestions...?

I feel you man, just try your best not to work on college apps during school days M-fri. Save most of your college app work for the weekends, even if you have to cancel plans to do it...

That's the best method i've found for it not interfering with school work. Anyways it doesn't really seem like you have much to worry about, even if you get a B or two your gpa should still be in the 3.9 range, and I bet you can bring that ap calc and economics grades up into the 90 range by the end of the semester.
Don't sweat it this happens to everyone, youve just got a case of senioritis.

^actually they will all be quite hard to pull up based on how the grades are derived in terms of weighting categories (HW, participation, test, etc.) and such...
I told myself that the one thing I wouldn't do is get senioritis, and I am quite convinced that I don't have it (I am working hard and rarely have a minute of free time from 6 am - 10 pm daily), it has just been much harder to balance my time than I thought...

my gpa is, as it stands, a 4.143 W by my school's policy (a dip from my 4.67 and 4.5 in my Junior Year)

...I'm also thinking I could beg if I'm really desperate...

dontcha, I'm experiencing the exact same problem. My W GPA from 9-11th is 4.55 (5 = AP, 4.7 = honors, 4 = normal) and I have max of 1 A- per year; but this quarter I know I have at least 2 A-'s in classes that I should have been stronger in - AP physics and BC calc - and am still unsure of the rest.

When I talked to my guidance counselor about it (we have a fairly strong guidance dept) she said that the max they will do to a SCEA applicant is deferral - though, as she said, A-'s and B+'s arent that bad and are definitely a different story from straight Bs. I'm guessing that those are your quarter, and not semester grades - so in your case, my suggestion to you is the same as kevin's: hole yourself up on weekends and simply work to improve your grades for the rest of the semester. Yes, it's hard, and probably goes against every gospel you have ever heard about the well-rounded student, but just know that students across the country are doing the same. (I myself have not gone out since September.)
