1 year CC transfer to BIG10 schools.

So I'm currently at a community college in the the suburbs of chicago. It's my first year here and I plan on transferring to one of the three following schools: University of Illinois-Champaign, UW-Madison, Ohio State University. As far as I know, all my credits transfer to U of I and UW, but not too sure about OSU. I've decided on psychology as a major and Im pretty set on it. I'm really nervous about getting accepted to these schools and I was hoping to get some feedback about my current situation.

Right now it's my first semester here, and I'm about to finish 16 credit hours and I have a 4.0 GPA as of now. I'm taking another 16 next semester. I also have 2 jobs: Brand ambassador/manager of a company and I do manual labor in a warehouse. I was a volunteer coach for my old high schools football team this year as well and I'm on pace to finishing 30 hours of volunteer work to put on my resume as well.

And in regards to what I've done in high school... I had a 3.0 GPA at a college prepatory high school, and a 23 on the ACT. I did 1 year of lacrosse, 1 year of wrestling and 4 years of football and was the captain of the team my last year.

I hope I can get some feedback it would mean a lot. Thanks

The 4.0 is going to stand out, but not as much since you are considered freshman level still, so that will mean they will consider your high school background. Is staying at your CC an option for maybe another semester to bump you up into the sophomore standing? That way, you can save money, possibly knock out gen eds, and build up your transcript a bit more.

andrew, I’m really set on transferring after this semester. But I guess if you have over 30 credits you’re college performance is all that matters and everything from high schools becomes supplemental. I’m confident in getting accepted in at least one of the schools but im most interested in UW-Madison is number 1.
