1 year community college in the US or one year university in UK?

I'm a European student almost21 years old and I would like to study in the US.
I have a question for you.. Do you think is possible to study one year in UK and after transfer in a good university in the US (and trying to take a merit scholarship)?
I want to take an undergraduate in chemistry, should I take only few classes, only the credits that I could transfer?</p>

<p>or perhaps... are there American college in UK? In this case would be easier to transfer my credits in the US next year</p>

<p>P.S. I have a doubt... If I will transfer my credits next year, will I be considered a freshman or not?</p>

<p>There is University of Richmond in London. Depending on how many credits that transfer your class standing would be determined.</p>

<p>There are vanishingly few merit scholarships for transfer students, so I would not rely on that possibility to fund your studies.</p>
