1 year transfer + UCLA Communications Studies

Am I just crazy determined or just plain stupid?

I know people have done this before and succeeded. But most have lots of AP credit to back it up. I for one is only going to have 7 semester units going into cc. I feel like I'm not really going to have a lot of hard classes, other than the main GE ones such as English and Science. At the most about 6 in the spread of 2 semester. While the others are just ones that seems interesting or fun such as Theater Arts or Music because all of my pre-req classes are fulfilled in the GE.

My Plan:
Going in: 7
Fall: 21
Spring:23
Saturday and online: 9

Also. Is the UCLA Communications Studies really hard to get into? It's really what I'm aiming for here. What's the GPA range I need to get into that program? And how does TAP play a part in it? Should I get into TAP? Will it raise my chances of getting in?

Thanks.

Fall: Sociology (3) Psychology (3) Statistics (4) Speech (3) Political Science (3) English 1 (3) GE Art & Humanities Section (3) Easy Online Class A (3)
Total: 25 units

Spring: Science GE (3) Science GE (4) English 2 (3) GE Art & Humanities Section (3) GE Art & Humanities Section (3) Easy Online Class B (3) Easy Online Class C (3) Easy Online Class D (3)
Total: 25 units

Your Original 7 + 25 + 25 + one more easy online class (3) = 60 units!

This is totally doable, I did 24 units last semester and I felt that the way to succeed is that you just have to find a few classes where its okay to do other homework in there and do other classwork for other classes discretely. I didn’t take any online classes with my 24 units but it would be a lot easier if you took online classes with the above load since it saves the time you would have spent in class. In my opinion, you don’t really need TAP since you’re a one year transfer. Try to get a 4.0 or maybe just one B…I purposely pushed back the science classes so the chances of you getting a 4.0 would increase.

You’re definitely not crazy because I bet if you took one semester with 25 units, you’ll think that it would be easy enough and you can probably handle more. I know I could have taken 2 more easy 3 unit classes to go to 30 units. 25 units is probably not even equivalent to a full time job so you should be fine. Good luck!

Ucla comm is extremely competitive…also, you may not even be able to enroll in that many classes your first semester at CC. I know plenty of people who only got into like 2 classes their first semester.
