This is actually for a friend.. He is currently a freshman at UCI and by the end of this year, he will have accumulated 180 quarter units. He has so many units because of AP credits and he also took summer school and other classes at community colleges. I guess he is very motivated and really wants to transfer. My question is that what are his chances of transfering into UCLA? I know that the UC transfers have last priority and his UCI GPA is around 3.4 and probably even higher after the curves. He has all his Breadth requirements completed and the only thing I'm not sure is whether or not he has decided upon a major. Is it likely for him to transfer into UCLA because it is either that or he is staying at UCI and graduating in 3 years.

CAN HE EVEN TRANSFER OVER ALL 180 UNITS GOING INTO UCLA AS A SOPHOMORE?

WOW , zot zot... same here but i will have around 100 units by the end of this year,, which i think is totally fine for transferring as a junior level however im not sure about 180, cus its way too many, and some UC's just dont accept senior transfers... :( i know its gahey, but ya...

I am pretty sure UCLA does not take transfers with more than 90 semester units, especially from another UC because all credits are transferrable. A student may not disregard any course work. But you should contact the admissions office or consult the website just in case.

Consult a counseler. Do not rely on this self-proclaimed expert.

Did someone let a monkey into this forum?

Thanks for all the replies. Ill tell him to go speak to a counselor.. I guess its too late now since application deadlines are over and he has already turned his apps in

this is from a cal admi off...i dont think the overall credit transfer policy differs that much:

"The AP units and community college courses you took before you graduated
from high school won't be counted against you. Units you took after high
school graduation will."
