I need one more year of school b4 I can reapply to UNC for transfer admission. My story is long and interesting, so get comfortable.

I spent two years at East Carolina University, maintained a decent GPA, but withdrew from school this spring because of medical side effects. What a brutal semester it was. Anyway, another interesting twist is an "Incomplete" in Calc II from the fall '04 term, b/c before winter break I experienced symptoms of the ailment that caused a need for the meds and my best friend tried to commit suicide... so I left legitimately before finals, taking 4 incompletes. I managed to take all the finals in the spring except for Calc II because my prof in the class took a leave of absence. After my three semesters at ECU, and a summer at NYU summer school - '04, I have a 3.609 GPA and 44 credits.

When I spoke to an admissions director at UNC, she said take Gen Ed courses for a year and reapply for junior status, and you should be accepted. The thing is, I would rather eat two handfuls of poop than return to ECU becuase I was extremely, thouroughly dissatisfied--disgusted almost--with the institution.

There are also a few points of inquiry/interest to ponder as well.. 1) will grad schools frown upon my undergrad adventure (3 schools?!); 2) Is transferring a second time worth it just to use UNC to study abroad @ Oxford? (my main undergrad goal) or is the school's reputaion worth the tiring transition 3) is GWU worth the extra money because of it's four-spot prestige over UM? or should I just go make a 4.0 @ UM and have fun in the sun while doing so for one year?

Let me know what you all think. Thank you for reading this far, haha.
