$10,000 Scholarship from National City Bank

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to let you know about a new contest that National City Bank is running in which you can win $10,000 in college scholarship money. The application is easy (no essays included), and the scholarship prize is generous. More information about this contest can be found at www.collegefundingnow.com, as well as general information and videos about the college process. Good luck!

Doesn't look real to me! Be careful of scams

Why does it look like a scam, and who exactly are you, National City, do you work for them? Why did you choose that name? What is your interest in this scholarship and is available to out of Ohio state students?

It's a sweepstakes. National City -- the entity, not the OP -- is real. (I'm sure the OP is real, too, but is probably not really named "National City.") It doesn't necessarily follow that the sweepstakes is real, but National City does do student loans.

Anyone interested in this sweepstakes may want to call the 800 number for the student loan business to ask whether this sweepstakes is really coming from National City: 1-800-622-5097.

Student loan website: Student Loan | National City Corporation

I looked there and didn't see anything about a scholarship/sweepstakes.

Disclaimer: My mortgage is with National City Mortgage, which is one of the National City entities; I've been very happy with the company in that capacity, and that's my only affiliation with the firm.

As someone who has entered a lot of online sweepstakes, it looks legit to me - but if you click on the official rules, there is a link to see what they do with the personal information you supply to them. You will get junk mail!
