Would anyone who received a $10,000 scholarship please post your stats? It would be very helpful. Also, please say if you are OOS. Thanks!

My s was offered this scholarship.

OOS
ACT 34
GPA: 3.69
Rank: School does not rank

Getting the Chancellor's scholarship app done has been tough since last week was finals and this week - well - it is Christmas. He has to mail it on Saturday.

You should be aware that the general merit $10,000 scholarship is only for out-of-state students. In-state students with similar stats get a $2,000 scholarship.

As noted elsewhere - Pitt is strongly trying to encourage OOS students to come in.

What's OOS? I'm only a sophomore so I'm relatively new to all of this college admissions language :)

My DS1 has Upitt as his favorite school admitted to so far.

Offerred the 10K OOS with 3.9GPA, 1420 SATs, and a number of heavy ECs. 5APs, 4 as a senior.

We think UPITT is trying to beat the cost of our instate public flagship. It didn't but that was because public flagship gave DS a scholarship, so instate flagship is cheaper than Pitt. But DS loved the campus and the feel of the school, and it is still very high on his list.

eldoboy: OOS - out of state :)

ohh, thanks

Hmmm... my son was admitted to the business school at Pitt a few months ago (he applied to the honors college early and was accepted quickly) but we haven't heard anything about scholarships. He's since been deferred by Cornell and Binghamton so Pittsburgh is looking better (to be honest he only applied because they sent him the free application code but we've since learned that it is an excellent school). Should I be contacting them? I have no idea what he put on the application since it was free! I would hope he did not say that we didn't need anything.

NM, found another thread and it seems like they want a 1400 SAT which my son did not have. Great.

I got my acceptance letter a week ago and am waiting on scholarship info, which they said would be coming. Anyone know how long It'll be?

Is the 10k scholarship for all four years of tuition or is it renewable each year?

I believe it is for four years as long as you maintain the gpa required. The full tuition scholarship is for four years as long as you maintain a 3.0. Also if you get any additional scholarship award from the individual depts. (eg. engineering), it can be added to your scholarship from Pitt.
