Stanford offers admission to 2,465

For the second year in a row, Stanford University had a record number of applicants to its freshman class and has offered admission to 2,465 of them.

It had previously offered admission to 750 of those applicants who had applied under the university's early decision process.

Stanford had 23,965 applicants, breaking last year's record of 22,332.

Because students offered admission may choose to attend a different university, Stanford typically enrolls about 1,650 students in each first-year class.

The students offered admission come from all 50 states and 59 foreign countries.

California is home to 958 students offered admission, while Texas is second with 147 and New York third with 107.

Among foreign students offered admission, 35 are from Korea, 18 from Singapore and 17 from Canada.

"The academic power, social activism, artistic talent, athletic achievement and intellectual vitality of our admitted students is truly humbling," said Richard Shaw, dean of undergraduate admission and financial aid.

All prospective students have been invited to visit the campus April 19-21 during Admit Weekend. Students have until May 1 to decide on accepting admission.

Heh. Good post. (I didn't think this information would be out for a while...)

So Stanford's predicting a 67% yield rate. That's pretty impressive, but why would 33% go somewhere else?

For me it's money.

But I want to go SO bad it's not even funny.
