10 Days Until ED Decision! Who's Nervous?

grrrrr im so nervous.

only 7 days left!!!
I realllly reallyy reallllyyyyyyyyy hope to get in.

I wonder if the college picks a limited number of students from particular region in the nation.I heard only 3-4% of the JHU students are from the South…:/

Quote:
there are in fact many applicants who apply who are below the threshold…more people who have weaker test scores decide to apply ED than RD to a school.

^you get a mix of low scores (like your 30/1910) and high scores.
wahkimoocow: at least some of those are recruited athletes who often apply ED

ihs76: I’m a recruit for Hopkins and applied early decision… I have a 2260 (which the coach said was “in the range”), but when I had a 2120 he said that it was a low score…

bottom line: recruited athletes have to have good scores as well!

^^ Some sports are known to field higher caliber student-athletes than others. Tennis, I know, is one of those. Generally the split is between ‘revenue’ and ‘non-revenue’ sport with the former fielding a wider range of students than the latter.

BTW, my son was also an “in the range” recruited athlete for a non-revenue sport, so been there, done that. He did RD, however.

^^yes someone mentioned that already.

did JHU admissions people contact anyone’s guidance counselor?

@ wahkimoocow : no
I am soooooooo nervous … If I don’t get accepted I have to continue working on my supps for other private schools -_- … I really dont want to do that !
besides JHU is my dream school … sigh

I feel the exact same way sulhee…

Penn is my second choice but Hopkins has been my dream school since forever…

I feel checking CC this many times a day is unhealthy…

BUT! because I’m such an overachiever, I called Undergrad Adm. and asked when the EXACT time was that they sent out letters and emails.

For everyone’s knowledge, they send out the letters before 12 pm on the 15th, then the office closes down and the IT guys send out all the letters according to category (rejected, deferred, and accepted). The latest possible time is around 6 but you can very well receive your decision at 3 or 4 pm that day.

seandonohue8, last year they started sending emails after 7pm. are you sure it comes out at 3 or 4pm…?

The admissions rep told me that they close down the office at 12 and the IT guys start sending out the letters all afternoon. I dunno maybe she was lying! who knows.

Well, seandonohue8 called today so I assume the info is up to date.
More so I hope it is haha because I don’t know how long I can wait the day of!
Been officially counting down since day 33.

I hope it’s earlier…

My god. Decisions day is going to be 6 degrees C colder than the day before! This can’t be a good sign :(

I’m trying to get as much bad luck as I can get these next 4 days. That way, my luck will be concentrated on ED day. I’m keeping every cross-able body part crossed. Good luck guys.

omg you guys…
reading this made me so worried.

I tried hard not to care or worry about getting in or not
but my friend got into Northwestern today & i suddenly feel like i HAVE to get in x_X…
but i don’t think i qualify compared to all of your statistics! :[

four more days.

Good luck to everyone~

Bogosipuh: It’s not all about the stats. Anyways, I’m praying.

@Bogosipuh: My friend got into West Point, and another got into Cornell this past week, only adding to the angst and the feeling of need towards Hopkins…

well…TWO of my friends that are ridiculously smart got flat out REJECTED from Columbia ED and now I’m thinking of how little hope I have :(

I have been researching “why JHU sucks” so that if I dont get in, I can wallow in self-pity less. the problem is, I cant find anything substantial to say why it stinks. Wahhh

Aiiiiiy.
My friend applied ED to Cornell so I feel the same pressure. :/

But anyways. I wish y’all the best of luck! Right now, I’m being a hugeee pessimist and just thinking “I’m not going to get it” just so if I get rejected, I’ll be somewhat okay but if I get in it’ll be !!!
But we’ll see…

I wonder if any of the admissions people see this thread ahah.

@ayjaytee : i knoww! i stayed in bed an extra hour just thinking about how effed over i’d be & kept telling myself i wouldn’t get in. &even if those admission people saw, at least we’re anonymous !

@Anouchi : yeah, two of my friends got rejected from uPenn, one accepted & i have two other people from my school applying ED to hopkins…

this wait is incredibly scary… why couldn’t everybody’s just come out on the same day x_x

I’m a current freshman and I can certainly, definitely, absolutely relate to all of this. I applied ED as well and you have no idea how worried/stressed I was. As hard it is to do, please try not to. Focus on other things (I actually had midterms during all of this) and spend time with your family and friends. It’s not worth the stress and worrying. And do not focus on how others do, where your friends got in, etc. It’s not a competition - it’s about you!!! On the 15th, it is what it is, and all of you seem to be outstanding students, so any college, including Hopkins, would be very, very lucky to have you. And remember, you are guaranteed to be happy at wherever you end up because it’s what you make out of the college experience.

Best of luck!

4 more days! I agree to what everyone previously said, and like everyone else, I am really nervous. This summer I attended two classes at Hopkins for their pre-college program and my professors wrote additional recommendations for me. I am not sure if the program will greatly help my application in combination with my academic grades. Whatever the outcome is, at least we all tried. And like what bluejay13 said, we are all talented and even if we don’t get in, we still tried our best and have bright futures somewhere else. Good luck guys!
