I'm thinking about attaching a fishing line to the ten dollars, hiding in the bushes, and watch people try to pick it up as i pull the fishing line. is this too vulgar haha or is it creative?

haha cute.//

haha but will they think i am a sadistic jerk???

i guess quite creative/humorous.. but try to make it meaningful??..lol..

you know.. not like a joke or something.

word...opportunity for criticism of capitalism and peoples desire for money
again, sounds a little harsh, but whatever

forced, not spontaneous
trite, banal, cliched, vapid, insipid, unoriginal, derivative
whew these are some SAT words
but i dont think these are enough to express my opinion on your idea
by the way, no offense on you
this is just my subjective opinion

isn't that from the Simpsons? :)

haha, i dont see how it is very unoriginal and derivative...i dont imagine many people will be writing an essay on that. well see, i'll make it interesting, atleast happygal thinks its cute :)

hahaha that's funny. it's a great idea.

I think I saw this as a Jackass stunt.

yeah i saw it from the simpsons. mr. burns did it to homer simpson
and i just know that i saw that idea somewhere else...

it's too sadistic...
I doubt it'll go over well with the adcom
Think about if they really want someone at their university who would spend his/her time doing something like that.

LadyinRed:

In my essay, I will acknowledge this sadism as an intrinsic human flaw, I will admit to it...its like the news - we like hearing about people suffer, we enjoy humiliating others. It also, on the other hand, stresses how central money has become in capitalistic life; and as a result our ethics have gradually worsened. If I get the right tone in my essay, I should hit the spot. Anyway, JHU is way down on the list, so it will be fun taking a risk and writing a creative essay.

well..if you don't care so much, take the risk.
I personally think it's not the more tasteful idea....but then again, JHU is one of my top choices, so maybe my opinion's a bit skewed.

yea.. JHU is bit down my list too...

XD I think that's great. I'd have so much fun if I saw someone doing that smirks

Ladyinred, sry to seem offensive but how can a senior in h.s. know what a college wants? for all u kno, they could like this type of essay if it means a psychological analysis of intrinistic human tendencies. this could be an EXCELLENT way to stand out, if u provide this type of comprehensive anaylsis. or it may not. they could find it ridiculous. u never kno. would i try it? yea if i could find the "politically correct" words. its really up to u. take people's opinions on CC with a grain of salt, including mine.

1337haxor, i think u should use that topic
so that u would be rejected and i would have a higher chance of getting in.

BanKai -
ummm....
I didn't say I know what the college wants.
I told the original poster to THINK about what the college wants. Think about the demographics of the adcom. These are not teenagers judging your paper. They MAY NOT watch the Simpsons or find it at all enjoyable.
If I knew what the college wants, I wouldn't say "I DOUBT it'll go over well" or "I personally think..."
I do believe the OP asked for opinions, so I gave mine. I don't think he should take the risk because it's more likely the adcom won't like it.. IN MY OPINION/ FROM WHAT I KNOW ABOUT ADMISSIONS.

Your post, on the other hand, is infinitely less productive than mine since it simply reestablishes the OP's original dilemma.

so i ask again, lady, WHAT DO U KNO ABOUT ADMISSIONS.
yea u gave UR opinion, is it the opinion of ADCOMS???
and they MAY watch the simpsons or find it enjoyable. the point of my post was that u NEVER KNOW.

i too gave my opinion. and obviously u cant read correctly because i specifically said i would have tried. gg.
