10 dollar essay idea, need assurance

haha theonlyone, arent you making a model of a turtle and engraving your essay on it or something. i think that would scare adcoms, please use that so i can get in.

I think that it would only work if you took it to the next level, i.e. that idea about capitalism that someone suggested. It doesn't seem that creative to me, it seems rather trite and unoriginal although not at all sadistic. Good luck!

rofl nice haxor

yeah im using the turtle
i think im gonna scare the adcoms cuz its so good lololol

lol jaimie, read again, it was I that was planning to do the whole capitalism thing

If you can make that work, I'd like to read it, lol. I remember seeing that in cartoons when I was like 8 years old. A little immature.

BanKai -
I admitted to that before you even posted!
obviously I don't know, and I acknowledged that several times - but I'm not freaking banned from speculating!

even you admit it's a huge risk; the very fact that the OP is doubting the idea to begin with shows the likelihood that the adcom WON"T ENJOY IT. I wouldn't take said risk...you would. But my statement about your post still stands because you're not giving any reason as to WHY you would choose to take the risk whereas I gave some, if speculative, basis for not taking the risk. i.e. I'm working to solve the dilemma rather than ONLY asserting the choice I personally would make. Honestly, the OP KNOWS "it's really up to [him]". tell him something new.
I'm not claiming to KNOW anything about admissions. I'm just making some LOGICAL conclusions based on what I understand from my research, along with acknowledging both that my opinion is biased and that I don't have insider knowledge about JHU admissions.

get over it. everyone here gives their opinions...that doesn't mean they're claiming to know everything about admissions.

Looks like BanKai is instigating more conflict...

Anyway, the subject matter of the essay really isn't important. The creativity shown within the essay is what counts.

eh its who i am md. rofl. :)

How in the world is it creative?

op, did you submit the essay yet? or are you snail mailing it?

i'm snail mailing it, why? by the way buddy, i never said it was creative, i just asked for your respected opinion no need to freak out.

oh, if you did online it would have been submitted already. so, i was just wondering if you actually wrote the essay on your original idea. but since your doing snail mail, you have more time to contemplate possible ideas.

Go for it, man. I'm sure your admissions representative would enjoy a light-hearted essay after all of those other ones. But then again, make it somewhat meaningful, because who wants to read yet another insignificant essay?

what I understand about the $10 essay is that it doesn't HAVE to be 'meaningful' right?...it does need to be creative and entertaining...and must represent your personality. The influential class essay is necessarily meaningful

I think this particular topic should link to some meaning or it just sounds evil.

(bolded to avoid annoying unsubstantiated commentary about my jumping to conclusions about the opinions of adcoms)

lol prehaps i should also bold my previous responses where i EXPLAINED how i was going to make it meaningful.
