10 more DAYS!

That study is not terribly accurate. They used data volunteered by 2/3 of SAT takers who may or may not know their parents true income. Also, I think private tutoring can only get someone so far. In my opinion, scoring the higher scores takes natural ability which I personally do not think is connected to how wealthy your parents happen to be.

The problem is, you’re still putting your conceptions, opinions, and thoughts against real data, and I’m inclined the trust the latter, even if the methodology is slightly flawed. Do you have anything to show that SAT scores don’t correlate with income?

We’re hijacking this thread, and I don’t want to do that. I PMed you if you want to continue this discussion further.

Anyway, 5 days guys. I wish you the best of luck!!!

I can’t believe it’s so close! (yet so far away…)

(a response to mathgirl)

Some socioeconomically disadvantaged students don’t get the same chances to learn as others. It’s definitely not all natural ability. Do you really think command of the English language is totally natural?

In my county, schools with higher average income have higher SAT scores. Low income kids just don’t usually have the same opportunities as their high income peers.

Statistically speaking, children in a more rigorous and formal academic environment display higher aptitude in mathematics. Even the greatest scientist and physicist of his time, Faraday could not master the mathematical language to proficiency, by the virtue of his lack of formal education as a youngster.
Although US mandates rudimentary public education to all minors, children in impoverished environment are deprived of opportunities readily available to their more well-off peers.

But hey, don’t you think this is all a bit off topic? =]

Of course it is… it’s a way to get our minds off the inevitable.

But if you insist:
Four Days!

And now three days… It’ll be Thursday before we know!

It’s going so fast! I’m excited though.

65 HOURS! I am so nervous OMGGGGGGGGGGGG

^Did you have to put it in terms of hours? Ahhh…

May the odds be ever in y(our) favor!

53 hours =D

1 day, 23 hours, 57 minutes, 47 seconds (I have a google timer set because I’m insane) =D

^ I giggled at “because I’m insane” hahahaha!

what do you think the admit rate will be. Apparently Harvard’s was 3% so Princeton’s can’t be much better. I died a little inside when I heard that statistic … oh god

@mathking where did you find this statistic?

mathking please, please tell me you are kidding…3 percent!? are you serious!! oh god…

Jesus, @mathking, you better be exaggerating :(

Also, to help relieve the stress/tension of WAITING THOSE TWO MORE DAMN DAYS!
