Is it possible to get 10 on the essay and still get 800 on SAT II writing??? and how many wrongs if you get 10 wrong to get 700

I took in October and got an 800 with a 10 on the essay and 4 questions wrong on the MC (none blank).

I got a 10 on the essay and missed 4 questions, too, last June. I also received an 800.

my friend got 3 mc wrong and a 10 on the essya and got an 800

Heh, well I had 10 on essay and missed SIX M/Cs....and still managed to catch the tail end of the 800 curve.

wow what month/year did you all take it?

I got a 10 on the essay and an 800 in December 2003.

I don't know on the MC, but my son got a 9 on the essay and got 800

I got a 9 on the essay, missed around 4, and got a 790

Same as vig180 - 10 essay and 6 MC wrong and still got an 800. Took it last May.

now which study guide did you guys use and was the 800 b/c of the curve??

Barron's
Yes, I still got an 800 even after missing so many because of the curve.

I used Sparknotes.

And what do you mean was the 800 because of the curve? Clearly we didn't get 100% of the possible points. Hence, it must have been due to a curve, right?

my friend got 9 on essay and perfect on MC but still 790 only, he must be real unlucky then

The problem is that even 6 wrong means a perfect subscore for MC, whereas a 9 on the essay is a 70/80 subscore. In other words, it does you no good to have 0 wrong on MC instead of 6 wrong. If you have 6 or fewer wrong, it comes out to the same MC subscore.

6 wrong for me was 790 MC subscore. My 10 was a 750. Somehow, those two scores equal 800...

well i got like 0324280409 wrongs on mc so i'll shut up =P

I hate you. I got a 10 on the essay and a 740 on the test. I took so long on the MC that I skipped the last page.

I used Kaplan's for about a half hour to hour the night before the test.

And yeah, both my subscores were below 800 so I don't know how I pulled the 800 off.

I know someone who got a 10 essay and an 800 overall. I believe he said he only got 2-3 MC wrong.
