10 Real SAT book

Does 10 REal SAT book have different tests from that of the Blue book?

How many editions are there for the 10R's and what is the difference between them?

Also, do people still sell these at bookstores, or do I have to buy them online?

Thanks!

10 Real SATs was the College Board-produced book for the old SAT that was administered until 2005. In other words, the tests themselves are different; the old SAT’s CR section had analogies, no short passages, different timing (30 and 15 min sections instead of 25 and 20 min), the math was easier because it didn’t cover Algebra II, and there was no writing section. The book contains 10 tests that were given in the '90s.

I think there were two editions - I can remember one that had a white cover, and the most recent one was red. I don’t know the differences between them, though - probably the same difference between the current Blue and Green books, with some overlap among tests. I don’t think you’ll find it in the bookstore anymore because it’s not applicable to current SAT takers, but there are probably a gazillion copies for one cent online.

If you just want some more math, long passage reading, and sentence completion practice, the book has plenty. I noticed some questions from these tests were recycled and appear in the Blue Book (though the majority of the material is different), so the level of difficulty (for CR, at least) is accurate. The downside is you can’t really time yourself because the sections are structured differently - you have to skip the analogies and quantitative comparisons, there are 8-9 CR questions per section instead of 5-6, the long passages are a bit longer and come with more questions, etc. But if you just want more practice and don’t have a problem with timing, it’s a decent resource. I would advise sticking with New SAT prep material before going for it, though, because it’s meant to prep you for a different test.

I agree that you should use all the current SAT materials Blue Book, online free practice tests, etc. before you go back to old materials that were used for a different Test.
