10 things to do in SF in a day

Like the title says. What are ten things, or more, that are recommended to see/do in San Francisco. I'll be stopping there on my road trip with my friends.

Thanks

pier 39
union square/west field mall
china town

.......yeah. that's all i do. haha

visit golden gate park...this summer is the 30th anniversary of the summer of love, i dunno if they did anything there.

"if you're going to san francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair..."

Wouldn't it be easier to find 10 things not to do in SF in a day?

DONT GO NEAR THE TENDERLOIN..in other words, dont get off on civic center and venture down the wrong block lol or (get off powell and venture down market...)

10 things

hmm

i'd say this is possible:

union square
chinatown
north beach
fishermans wharf
embarcadero

i think it would be exhaustive to do more than that (assuming you walk most of it)

whats wrogn with tenderloin?

It's not very tender at all.

Though Turtle Tower (Mmm.. chicken noodles) is located there.

Go to mission street for mexican food; go to the Haight for culture.

One of my favorite Moroccan restaurants is in the Tenderloin...it's called Tajine...but I digress.

Catch a show at the Orpheum if you like live theatre (though tickets can be expensive). There are good clubs in San Francisco (both gay and straight), but learn to avoid some of the shadier ones (e.g. City Nights). You can go to the Presidio (but its just historic), walk across the Golden Gate Bridge (or bike across). Those are just some ideas.

its just filled, correction PACKED with crackwhores, trannies, homeless people, drug addicts, etc etc

and its unpleasant and not so safe alone...

what's wrong with trannies?

^^loool^^^

I'll bump this up & add (or ask) about this restaurant: Barney's Gourmet Hamburgers i've never been there before but my bf who has LOVES it.
Any opinion?

What's the best place for a vegetarian burrito?

DONT GO TO FISHERMAN"S WHARF. It's a tourist trap and it offers NOTHING of SF's awsome culture. You could probably get more SF culture just by going down to Market Street.

Here's some of my favorite things:

Walk around outside down by the water,
maybe near the marina, or along the embarcadero.
It's so beautiful!

Go to the Metreon center, do the virtual bowling.

Art Museum at the Legion of Honor, again in a beautiful setting,
and free some days of the week.

Here's a quirky thing I like: Ride the cable cars to the
powerhouse (where they have the motors that pull all
the cables). Check out the museum there.

Mircobreweries, although I can't recommend any specifically.

The authentic sourdough bread really is good, and unique
to the San Franciso area.

Take a ferry over to Sausalito. Eat in one of the restaurants
there right on the water.

go the coit tower at night, its pretty =)

1-#10 ... ride the cable cars

and jump off a few places

Lombard street ... walk down and then back up to the cable car

Fisherman's wharf

Go on the Alcatrez tour ... which was much better than I expected and provides a terrific view of the city at night

Take a second day and check out the Redwoods just north of SF and Sausalito

Go to a game a PacBell stadium

Take another day and drive down the coast to Monteray/Carmel by way of Santa Cruz

Watch (or run in) the Bay to Breaker race ... OK, this one is day specific

Have fun! SF is on my short list of my favorite cities to visit.
