My dad emailed me the numbers that he got from searching the ASC newsletter last year. They accepted 14.6% of those that they deferred EA.

That means 22.76% of EAers get in!

those odds seem much better when compared to regular decision

it also means 77.24% wont get in

yeah but compared with 92% that is way better

I used to post a bit on the old forum and have just taken to reading the new forum instead. I am so nervous for you all ~ best of luck!

We will need luck. By the way how many people do you think will make it this year? I hope its not murder like last year.

Ughhhh how could it not be? :( The numbers are just about the same...

but we are twenty-three and a half times cooler than last years applicants. lol

Yes of course we are, but will Yale know that?

They will know that this year's class is cooler because I am applying

not to say that the rest of you are not cool

Someone please promise to make a rejected thread so us with 9/233's and the like can console each other?

on the 15th we should make three new threads. accepted, deferred and rejected. so people will know how to post in each. and people can cheer in the accepted thread without feel too bad and people can all be consoling in the others.

That's a fantastic idea.

Can someone explain the "#/ 233" thing? I've seen it around, but I dunno wot it is.....

It's the Academic Index. You can find a calculator for it on this site. Use Google or search around on the EA roster around pages 3-6 for the link.

so on the 15th, at around 3pm, ill create the three new threads. when decisions are online, whether the 15 or the 16, people can use the threads so that there arent 63 people all making their own new threads at once because they are so excited/sad.

Before all of that, even, someone should make a thread where people can just make straightforward predictions on whether they'll be accepted, deferred, or rejected. And then when it's all done with, we can compare predictions and results. ...Of course, nearly everyone will say they'll be deferred or rejected, so maybe not.

I don't think anyone would have the guts to say, "Yes, I will be accepted." Except maybe panther07.

After I saw his post about his likely letter, I asked my mother why she didn't make me play football and moaned that she had ruined my chances of getting into Yale. Jokingly, of course, as I am of the female persuasion.
