108 College dorm necessities to have on your checklist | Xatal

Woo!!! Perfect

thank you~

Hey! I wrote that list!

I’m glad you guys found it useful :)

Very usedful

wooo thanks!

be careful though, I remember buying a lot of supplies in my excitement to get ready, only to find out how useless they were…

Some of the things i’ve bought, I haven’t even used yet, though it’s almost the end of the year.

I agree with Whiteclock. I had two cars full of stuff at the beginning of the year, cuz I thought I needed this or that. But in actuality, a week later after moving in, I had to take back home about half a car or more of stuff I brought during move-in day that I had thought I would use, however I didn’t need any of it at all.

Sorry about the double post, but I can’t edit my previous one.

Another thing to add, mini fridges and microwaves are provided in every dorm room, regardless of which dorm you’re in. So that’s a plus that I liked about UCR dorms, as opposed to other UCs that my friends went to who had to bring or rent their own.

I applied for Pentland. I don’t know if I should bring cleaning stuff to clean our bathrooms. Can anyone please let me know? Thanks!

you dont have to. Housekeeping cleans everything except your room

Remember… the more you pack to school… the more you have to bring home. D:

BuMp Thought I might bump this thread as it’s very useful for incoming students!

just wondering but do the dorms or something have printers, and if they do how would you use it? like do you go somewhere and download the printer drivers or flashdrive it over or something?

I was told, this may not be correct, that there are printing areas designated in the library and around campus, but no specific printers in the dorms. I bought a printer to be safe and I plan on sharing it with my roommate so I don’t have to run around campus to get something printed.

The Dorms do have printing area. But I wouldn’t count on it 100% of the time because they can get jammed. There are buildings with printers also and each year there is a limit that a student can print out. I would still bring a print because of budget cuts may change number of prints and what not.
If you’re an engineering major and have access to a computer lab and a sign in, you can also go there to print or if you have a friend they can print for you. I’m a computer engineering major so I’m not sure how it works with all engineering majors, but I know you need to have access to the room as well as a sign in different then just your UCR username and password for the computers.

jenuwin01: Just a note, more than likely, you will bring more and more stuff over the year that you’re living in the dorm, so no matter how much you bring in the first place, count on leaving with more than you brought on day one.

hmmmm so tempted to bring my printer with me now. but i am a mechanical engineer major so i can probably use the departments printer. Ill probably see if my roommate or friends decide to bring one.

lol sweetmemories, i’m done dorming. it was just something I wanted to remind first years about.

himself, if you’re dorming, you can just use the prints in the computer lab! except… it usually runs out of paper during finals week. most of the time, it’s all good. if all the dorms run out of paper, you can always print papers at watkins.
