I am wondering what category this will be for FAFSA.
Every year my father, mother, and I each receive a SSA-1099-SM statement that indicates the benefits for that year.
My family income is only social security benefits so what would I selected as the type of income tax return form that my parents will file?

They may be able to file 1040A- does anyone itemize deductions?

Hm…not sure about that

My parents haven’t file any of the normal taxes forms for 5-8 years because they are not required.

For the past few years, they file the Representative Payee Report and Beneficiary Recontact Report each year.

Will I be able to use the reports instead of the tax return forms?

If they’re not required to file tax forms, just select “will not file” as the tax status. Untaxed SS benefits are not reported on FAFSA, so you would just put 0 as wages, etc. You probably won’t have to enter much other info for FAFSA but the rules may differ for your state aid program.
