10th grade schedule IS A JOKE. I need your help.

This is my 10th grade schedule:
Period 2: English 10 term 1 (STANDARD CLASS)
Period 3: Golbal 10 term 1 (STANDARD)
Period 4: iLearn SPANISH (STANDARD but was expecting that)
Period 5: LUNCH ( Do I even need this..????)
Period 6: Geometry term 1 of 2 (STANDARD)
Period 7: Living Environment( I took it last year AND passed the class, why do I have this again? I have friends in CHEMISTRY!)
Period 8: PHYS ED (only on tues and THurs)
Only 6 legitimate classes, and they are all EASY. I don't want this crap and I was looking to get advanced classes. All my classes are with the same idiots who can't even tell the teacher what an adjective was. After I explained it and gave a few examples...they still couldn't catch on. My school and terrible students who think working at McDonalds is good and going to community college is all they aspire to do. If I can't get it changed, I'll do everything I can to transfer. Can anyone help me with this one?

Meh, why do you have Geometry now if you are apparently SMRT?

The standard math for my HS is Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2/Trig, Pre Calc or Calc
I took Algebra in 8th grade and should be 1 year ahead but my middle school couldn’t send my regents test scores to my school and I had to retake the course and test. Is it possible to double up on math so I can take Trig/alg 2 and geometry this year?

Why aren’t you taking advanced classes? Does your school not offer them, or did you not get recommended for them? If it’s the latter, you might be able to convince a counselor to change your schedule, but in the long run it’s your fault for not making the cutoff. If it’s the former, you could take classes online (CTY, FLVS, etc) or self study some AP tests so that colleges will se you have initiative.

Why are you taking “Living Environment” twice? That seems like a mistake. It also seems like you aren’t being very active about getting things sorted out. I don’t know your schools policies towards scheduling, but if you talk to a counselor I’m sure they’d help you.

Why couldn’t they send your score?

Thanks, I tried talking to her (counselor) today but she was busy during my lunch period and exery other period, my teachers won’t let me leave the room.

She’s understandably busy because of the new school year and I bet everyone is complaining. But go to school early or stay late or ask to go to the bathroom and go to her.

I don’t really know how much people online can help you to go ask your guidance counselor to change your schedule :stuck_out_tongue: Like kestrel24 said, if your school doesn’t offer advanced classes, then there really isn’t anything you can do, and if you didn’t get recommended or sign up for them, then it’s your responsibility. If your schedule is a mistake, I don’t think you’d have too much trouble getting it changed.

If I were you, I’d double up on math, and definitely try your hardest to get into a chemistry class.

Yeah I’ll try that. Im not mad at her or anything, I know they’re busy and some schedules aren’t final yet. But the thing that confuses me is that she knows I want to take the hardest classes I possibly can, but she only gave me 5 normal classes, lunch and PE twice a week. I’m in school for 5 hours 3 days out of 5, i just want to challenge myself. I’ll be bored to death this year as nothing is challenging.

My schools offers NO AP’s, 1 Honors class sophomore year and 1 honors class freshman year.

therefore, my sophomore schedule is 5 core classes (math, science, eng, foreign language, hist; math is honors) and 3 electives because we are forced to have 8 classes.
it’s the “hardest” available since i have the honors class :P. Still, kids get accepted into Yale, Columbia, UPenn, Brown every year and i think it’s due to the IB junior and senior year which is incredibly difficult.

wait, dont you sign up for your own classes? or are they assigned to you?

wow I feel bad for you…The kids are really dumb and your schedule’s messed up…

Your school’s system sounds very different than mine and most others. We have an online scheduling site where we can pick the classes we want to take, provided that they meet the required credits and we have the prerequisites.

We can’t pick our own classes.

if you can’t figure this out, and really don’t like having easy classes, see if you can transfer out. I’ld start doing research on it until you can see your guidance counselor

You can’t pick your own classes? What? That’s freaking terrible.

Wow that’s stupid. I’m sorry about that

This is when you need to talk to your parents and have them get involved.

One year, my son was given 3 English courses and no math or foreign language. I had to call and change it over. He later told me that if they’d given him 3 maths and no English, he never would have told me!

Your parents also need to deal with getting your Regents score up to the HS. Have you told your bio teacher that you took the course already? Maybe he or she can help you.

Good luck.
