Just read that 11,200 people applied as of Jan 17th. How will they ever find my application in that pile and realize how much I want to get an acceptance letter...

Anyone know when the RD letters go out?

Sara

Yikes. That'll get the acceptance rate down by a fair bit. :|

Geese, that's like a lot of people!! I'm not worried though, just gotta wait until March...

Glad you're not worried! I am, but not sure why. I guess maybe cause lots of my class applied places ed and ea so they're already making plans..... Gotta find something to distract me for the next five or six weeks

Sara

Yeah, I'm a medalist anyways, but I'm not set on my final choice anyways so...

ahh the wait is terrible...when do decisions come out for RD?

March 14 i think. It was on the website. knowing the date doesnt make the wait any better though.

bperboy, or anyone

I'm a medalist also. Is that any indication that you are more likely to get accepted?

Sara

Medalist from where?

The Rensselaer Medal is awarded in the Junior year of high school, as nominated by math and science teachers. I was picked because I was the best, and I also expressed interest in RPI. It doesn't guarantee admission, but I said I wasn't worried because my application stats are higher than the averages, plus I was involved in activities and such. As in where, I'm in northern Ohio.

The medal itself does not mean that you have a better chance of getting in but the fact that you were given the medal is supposed to mean that you are someone who would without issue. Remember the medal program was initially instated to tempt students who would otherwise go to more prestigious schools.

Im also a Medalist.

Yep, The_Dude probably expressed that better than I did.

What do you think RPI's acceptance rate is going to be this year?

44%.......

I received a handwritten postcard a few weeks ago from RPI thanking me for my "fine essay." I doubt that these were sent to every applicant, but I could be wrong. Does this letter mean that RPI is looking favorably on my app? And did anyone else receive one?

Isn't handwritten postcard special? Absolutely, it is only for you. Good for you
