Unfortunately, I submitted my CommonApp three or four minutes late (although, supplement a few minutes before the deadline) and it shows as submitted on the 2nd.

I've read that many schools will offer some leeway here. Does anyone have specific information on Harvard's trend or policy with slightly late apps?

Also, to anyone else who applied to Harvard – can you check to see if your CommonApp is marked as "Downloaded"? Mine isn't - if yours is, that's a bad sign.

Harvard makes it clear that they are not obsessive compulsive about the “time” of the deadline. I am sure that if it came in at 12.10 they won’t just knock you out of the pool. Call the Office to reassure yourself, however.

Hey Etondad, your reply makes me feel a lot better. I may call the Office in a few days if I don’t get any sort of confirmation, but I don’t want to call right now because, well, it’s a little embarrassing. :P

Do you happen to remember where you read that about Harvard not being OCD?

I had a similar problem. I submitted both my common app and supplement before the deadline but I didn’t submit the application fees. I called Harvard. They said it wasn’t a problem and wouldn’t affect my application. I wouldn’t be surprised if still accepted your app.

deut: don’t call. Use logic and just relax. Failing that, just listen to Etondad and relax.

T26E4, I’m non-relaxed right now because some friends who submitted a couple hours before the deadline have their CommonApp say “Downloaded”, but mine just says “Submitted”. :/

You’re fine. It took mine a day or so for the status to change to “downloaded”.

Remember, all colleges WANT YOU TO APPLY. It looks good for them to have received more applications and be more selective (at least in the eyes of the general public). They also want your application fee. I really doubt that they would reject your application because you sent it a couple of minutes late, especially because the deadline was in the middle of the night and they wouldn’t start working on them until the morning.

Just relax.

Check with the credit-card company: if your fee was processed, you’re good.

It absolutely won’t make a difference

I forget where I read it but the quote came from Director McGrath. From what I know of her and of Dean Fitzsimmons that is completely in character and being OCD with the time stamp is not.

hahaha: Look what Cornell has been forced to post due to the excessive nos. of nervous folks like our OP:

Deut: Please. Relax. You’ve worked hard for 3+ years. Learn to chill. Enjoy your last few mos. in HS. Go ask out every guy/gal whom you were hesitant before. you’ve got nothing to lose. You’ll be a great college in Sept. You’ll never see most of your HS mates again. Go out with a bang! That’s what I did.
