119 Harvard Hackers: Why'd ya do it?

If you're not too embarrassed about hacking the admissions system, can you tell us why you did it? What did you think would happen if you were caught?

although im not among them.......the answer is simple.....the tension got to them.....they wanted to know decisions early....if you leave the cage open, the bird will fly out.....who will think about getting caught if he/she can see his decision in 2 mins....

What the heck is this about?

some students managed to access their decision results few days back, way b4 the official dicison release date of 31st march/1st april...

juz curious, harvard and all had already made decisions so early?? or are these for grad sch?

check this.....

It was for the Business School. I remember a Harvard official saying that a lot of the hackers just saw a black space, because their decisions hadn't yet been loaded into the system.

but at what cost? their admissions decisions.

they wanted to check their decisions early. they wanted to beat the system by manipulating the situation. they deserved the rejection.

Manipulating the situation?
Going in and changing something about your application status would be manipulating the situation. I'm not sure you could say the same, though, when all they did was peek.

... and saw nothing

if you signed the waiver on the application form, and then while in university you "took a peek" at your secondary records, what would that be?
