So I'm applying for 11th. I'm accepted from one other boarding school, though not very well-known, I adore it. But I LOVE Deerfield. And I'm on their Waiting list. According to CC people, the yield (rate of accepted students who actually got into the school) rate for last year was only 64% at DA... However, since it is not easy to be accepted as a 11th grade transfer student, not many students would give up this opportunity. I wonder there is any one who knows how it is hard to get into DA after being on the waiting list, as a 11th grade applicant.. I need to give an answer back to the school I'm accepted by April 10th, and I'm getting an answer from DA on 11th, so I really do not know what to do, and I'm lost. My current school (public and not really good) is really horrible, so I really don't want to take risk for any reason..

64% acceptance rate? That seems a bit high for Deerfield. But yeah I am in the same position it sucks

Lefty is talking about yield, not admit rate which for Deerfield is the lowest of all BS at 13.5% last year.

Don’t know OP’s gender, but for purposes of this post, let’s imagine you’re a girl:

It’s a week before your prom and the cutest boy in class, the one you’ve had a crush on for years, just told you that he’s invited someone else, 'cause he likes her better, and she’s said “yes.” But if she changes her mind, or her parents decide not to let her go, he’ll take you instead. Meanwhile, the second cutest boy in class, the one who’s always helped you with your homework when you needed it, and made sure you were never picked last for any team if he had anything to say about it, and who’s had a crush on YOU for as long as you can remember, has asked you to go with him. What do you do?

My advice would be to go to the dance with the school that loves YOU. Tell Deerfield that you love it . . . but that you deserve better than to wait around on prom night for a date who’s probably never going to show up.

Also, I’m a waitlisted 11th grade applicant. I think maybe 1 or 2 spots could get opened.
But that’s even not for sure.
