don't forget this from yesterday's breifs

"Class of 2010 not the best ever

Dean of Admission Jim Miller '73 announced yesterday that the class of 2010 would not be the best ever.

"I mean, it's still a great class. But we've simply had better," Miller said.

Miller pointed to changes in the College Board's ability to grade exams, shorter resumes from applicants and a glut of applicants from New Jersey as the primary causes of this year's somewhat disappointing group of admitted students."

Iwannabe_brown: You think you can provide a link to that? I got in this year and now I kinda feel slighted.

haha dude, it was an april fools article... along with every other article from the april 3rd issue

It's a spoof article. The newspaper is an independent newspaper that intersperses legitimate articles (like the one on the percentage of admittees) with satirical pieces (like the one quoting Dean Miller about the supposed lower quality of applicants, because there were too many from New Jersey). That article followed one about "the Almighty Lord" withdrawing sponsorship of the "Sex God Party." So, don't feel slighted.

Well, at least it wasn't as cutthroat as HYP and Columbia. I'm glad for that :)

er222:

There's no interspersing... The former article was in today's issue, the latter was in the April Fool's issue...

well, at least i got one pre-frosh to fall for it.

i'll admit iwannabe_Brown, i felt slightly less proud of my acceptance after reading your post... until I scrolled down and realized it was a spoof

i kinda feel good about myself after reading the original article. I'm a non-URM, non-legacy, engineering admit from NJ

Okay so now I feel stupid, but at least it's better than having Brown indirectly refer to your as a second class acceptee.

I thought it seemed kinda tacky for the dean of admissions to make a statement like that anyway.
