The MacBook Pro retina is much lighter than the original MacBook Pro! I think I’m leaning MacBook Pro, because I just feel like that laptop will have the ability to last me through all 4 years of high school, bringing it to school often, PowerPoint, word, pages, plus the retina display is AMAZING!!!

Go for Pro since you will use it for like 4 years! Although Mac has a great App store, you wont get much of the Graphic Intensive Games…But it wouldnt matter much if you arent into Gaming

Why would you ever pick the Air over the Pro? Air is for those people who travel a lot and like lightweight stuff. Pro is for the serious stuffs. ;p

It’s a /really/ bad idea to buy a Retina display just because it looks pretty. It’s just too expensive to justify buying it. Get a regular Pro, but the BEST idea would be to wait until ~June-July when there will be updates and probably price decreases on the Retina anyway.

That would be a good plan, but it’s vital that I get it for this semester and through the rest of high school. I can’t really wait through this semester.

With the amount you spend on your Mac you could buy a new 3 new laptops down the road. Macs are just fashion statements any way. 98% of the professional world uses Windows based products…hem “POWERPOINT” , “WORD” , maybe just saving your money for a windows and for college would be a better choice.

I am also a PC user and my PC rarely crashes(due to.some programs! no windows error) on Windows 7/ Windows 8 with my hardware also a bit old! So its not wise to switch to a mac since your current pc crashes!

Why isn’t it wise to switch to Mac if my current PC crashes? There are many components of the MacBook Pro retina that make it far superior to most, if not all, PCs. I’m definitely not switching to another PC, because I will just end up regretting it.

I’m just deciding whether to get the MacBook Pro retina or the MacBook Air, both 13". And I think I’ve decided on the MacBook Pro retina.

I’m having the same debate and I think I’m going to go with the pro. Yes, I may have to have a little bit of extra weight to carry around, but whatever, it’s exercise, haha. I think the pro will be best in terms of memory and having a CD slot and just yeah, feels more like a legit laptop…

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking too. But I think I’m asking for the MacBook Pro retina because of it’s weight, lightness, processing power, retina display (!!!), and speed. Also, it’s going to last me 4 years probably more than the MacBook Air will.
