Does the minimum thirteen units required for Letters and Science have to be completed through Berkeley? I looked on the website and couldn't find anything...

Basically, can I take classes at Vista Community College to help meet those 13 units? I saw some decent creative writing classes at VCC and unlike those at Cal; I do not believe you have to apply into them. Quite the deal. It would be super duper if this were possible.

Thanks in advance

I'm pretty sure they have to be at berkeley. I dont think you can take them at a cc cause berkeley will have no way of knowing you are enrolled in courses there, you can show them proof before the classes start that you are enrolled, but they will not know if you drop the class before the end of the semester. But you never know. I've never heard anyone question this.

Bummer AdamBoy...I actually emailed Letters and Science to confirm right after I posted this thread. Until then, I'll take your word for it. I hope they don't take too long to respond though :(

Edit: Cheers to Berkeley insomniacs or earlier risers...which ever applies :)

Keep us updated on what they tell you, im curious.

I know for students at Vista Community College who want to take courses at Berkeley, they must meet the unit requirement for their CC first, and then add a course from Berkeley on top. It would not make sense for one to be able to satisfy minimum unit requirements elsewhere. The minimum unit requirement is to officially qualify as a full-time student, which means, among other things, that you qualify for financial aid at Berkeley. If your scenario is true, then I can take one class at Berkeley and two others at Vista and yet receive aid from Cal. Doesn't quite add up.

TTG

"Cardinal Focused,

If you are a UCB student and wish to take courses
at Vista in a semester that you are attending
classes at Berkeley you will need permission from
an Asst Dean in our college. You can make an
appt. or send a request in writing. This course
if approved will be in addition to the minimunm
13 unit course load you are expected to take at
Berkeley as a full time student."

Bummer. :(
