Hi, i’m 13 years old. I took a main SAT maths section test and scored 660 on 800. Is that good or bad for a 8th grader?

That’s really good. For reference, I’m a senior and I got a 570.
Pretty Good, you’re off to a good start. As an 8th Grader I got a 670 on math but did atrociously on the other two sections. Good luck studying!
You may wish to look into a talent search, such as CTY (center for Talented Youth) run by Johns Hopkins University. If you sign up for their talent search, and THEN take the SAT, they will send you a report comparing your score to your cohort. If you score in a certain region, they will offer membership in certain groups (such as a group who publish an on-line journal, and a coaching and college guidance group). They also have summer courses you can take. They are pricey, but are wonderful experiences and let you a) be around other serious learners such as yourself, and b) sample life on a college campus in the US, which could be a great experience especially if you are thinking of eventually attending university in the US.

You don’t need to retake the SAT. You just need to send your SAT scores to CTY to participate in CTY programs.

The Julian C. Stanley Study of Exceptional Talent (SET) was created to help extremely talented students achieve their full potential, and, through its research and advocacy initiatives, to enhance the educational opportunities available for all academically advanced students.
Since 1980, SET has assisted students throughout the world who exhibit extraordinary mathematical or verbal reasoning ability by scoring at least 700 on either the Mathematical or Verbal (Critical Reading) part of the SAT before the age of 13 (or score an additional ten points for each additional month of age)."
Generally speaking, this would identify someone at approximately 3-sigma (3 standard deviations) or more above the mean for their age-group, or what may have been previously described as an “IQ” of 145 (mean of 100, SD of 15). This will identify someone in the 99.9 percentile of the population, or the person will do better on the test than 999 other randomly drawn people in a room of 1000 randomly drawn people.
The test is normed for spring of Junior year, typically late 16 or early 17 year-olds, with a 500 being the mean, and 110 the standard deviation. For 13 year-olds the mean is much lower, as is likely the SD.
Short answer: that is a great score!!!
New SAT is out of 760… plus, the scores haven’t come out yet… Was it a practice test or are you making this up?
