I am out of state and just got a 1310, think I can get in with it?

i got a 1300 and i got deferred im from out of state, i am also 19th out of 650 and i am on varsity swimming and i show jump. i have many great activities however they still DEFERRED! me and yes im still bitter

<3danielle

Unless you have some other qualification(s) that UVa really wants, a 1310 would seem to make you a very unlikely out of state candidate. It routinely denies or waitlists out of state applicants with high 1400s.

What are my chances with a 1480, all SATIIs in upper to mid 700s, two varsity sports, other ec's, etc

Amnesia and Siege1214,
UVa doesn't put all that much emphasis on SAT scores, it is way down on their list on requirements. They are much more concerned about GPA and class rank. Out of state students almost certainly have to be in the top 10% and perhaps even top 5% of their class.

i am rank 1 in my class (weighted and unweighted)... so i am not worried about gpa. i just am worried about my sat. i am glad UVa obsesses over the gpa... those are the easiest dice to roll.

yeah i get the feeling class rank is more important. i got in out of state with a 1330, 5/270-something (top 2%), and lots of leadership and ec's... you never know

best of luck!

haligh, my sat is my weakest thing. that is good to know. i am 1/~600

i'm pretty sure there are 600 ppl in my class.

oops.. didnt see that. i don think sat will be a big deal then. where out of state are you from?

oh crAP! i am ranked in the top 12%, or 41 of like 344(weighted gpa=3.91)...shoot..does this kill my chances for out of state w/ SAT of 1370, SAT IIs: 690 math IIC, 680 writing, 670 chemistry??? (from idaho if this helps any)

I'm a Wahoo and I got in with a 1350 from Russia. So I don't think SATs do really matter. They tend to look at your activities and leadership skills. Of course, SAT is one of the decisive factor, but it is not the ONLY one. A good GPA and a really tight essay will compensate your SATs somewhat.

i am from florida (tampa bay)

Don't worry.. Although it's not a perfect 100% chance, don't give your hopes up. I know bunch of people who got accepted with 1200s score range, but also lot of people who didn't get in even with a 1500. GPA is a more decisive factor for sure. UVA admission guys really look into that. If you have a good GPA no prob.

ok cool. i am visiting UVa this summer.

you also have a whole year to work on raising it if you want to...

erm. Does this mean that my chances are very low for UVa because im ranked 41 out of 344, or top 12%?

yeah u have a point there. i plan to take it next May or something...

so then what about out of state, 1480, top 5% unweighted gpa = 3.9, graduating with 8 ap's

class of 266 by the way
