I know this question has already been asked here but I'm looking for a very comprehensive answer.

"we encourage students to submit their portion of the application by Dec. 15, if possible."

Is this because Princeton just wants to avoid getting many applications near 1st of January(as I've read here) or applying later than 15th can actually hurt my chances? I'm not entirely sure that I can finish my app before 15th, I just believe I would need a couple of extra days to convey exactly what I want in the app. Will applying around 18th decrease my chances?

Ok, thanks. Anyone else?

It won’t reduce your chances. They are not going to look at the date people submitted their apps while making admissions decisions.

Seems legit, but I’m still somewhat worried. I would like to hear an answer from a Princeton student, if possible.

@disari21 - I am curious…in your opinion how will a Princeton student know the answer to this question? Are you looking for first hand experience of some who have applied right on the deadline and were or were not accepted to compare with those who applied prior to Dec 15?

Yes, something like that, just like the Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected & Strength and Weaknesses in the admission threads. I was looking for Princeton students who would answer “good timing” or “bad timing”, and would show some arguments from their experience.

Anyway, after consulting with a few people, I’ve decided not to rush and to write my best possible essays instead.
