15 minutes between classes..how bad is it?

Every day Mon-Fri I have two classes that are only separated by 15 minutes..

Rawles Hall 100 to Fine Arts 015 (Mon,Wed,Fri)

and

Business School 223 to Swain West 119 (Tu&Thur)

..Will I learn to hate this? How hard will it be for me? I don't want to miss any of my classes the first few days.

i walked about the same distance in 10 minutes. I do walk fast though

You’ll have to haul ass but you’ll get there.

That’s really cutting it…It will get annoying. My advice is to keep checking onestart to see if you could get put on the waitlist for an M119 class with a better time.

I have 10 minutes to get from Teter Quad to Rawles 100 … Is this doable?

LoonLake, hate to be negative but I definitely wouldn’t be able to make it in 10 minutes

last year I had to get from Ballantine to McNutt (I had X106 there) in fifteen minutes

I told my X106 professor ahead of time of the situation, and she was really understanding

I was never more than a few seconds late to class, so it is doable

it sucks especially in the snowy winters, though

at least you’re not walking uphill on Fee Lane! that’s a killer

My child has 2-3 15-minute transitions per day. The person who helped her do her scheduling said that was FINE, no worries. She does have one LONG stretch though. As another said…I’m sure, if you explain to your prof (and he/she isn’t a control freak), and you don’t take advantage (get a coffee on the way), then they’ll probably be fine if you find you can’t make it. And…don’t worry about snowy days YET. It rarely snows very much in Indiana prior to the end of your first semester. If there is snow, it isn’t usually very much. Next semester - can be a different story. Winters vary a LOT.

Will I be able to do McNutt to Woodburn in 15? Would I be going uphill on Fee? I don’t remember which way it goes.

McNutt to Woodburn is totally doable. Took me about 12 to do Briscoe to Woodburn at a leisurely pace.

Well that’s definitely not what I wanted to hear…I’m going to take all your advice and see if I can get a later time for M-119. Question about waitlisting though, what happens if no spots open up? Are we supposed to already be enrolled in an open class before putting ourselves on the waitlist of the same class w/ a better time? Or is it safe to DROP M-119 and waitlist myself at a better time? Sorry if I’m making this more complicated than it is…

Get yourself on the waitlist and then hit drop if enrolled and select the other time slot. So that way when a spot opens up, you automatically enroll and it drops the other one for you.

Yeah, frankly I don’t think I can make it either… I’ll haul some serious ass on the first day and see what happens.

Business School 325 to Rawles Hall 100. Doable in 30 mins?

Yes Gaille. thats enough time.

Thanks. Sorry the map just made it seem like so far away.

You can go to google maps and select “walking” and get an approximate walking time between addresses. Of course, it can’t take into account going up 3 flights of stairs, crowds, weather. Not PERFECTLY accurate, but I find it close. And fun to look at an interactive map with most of the building names, etc. See an aerial view of your dorm. Just fun.

Thanks :)

I have another question, I have a class in Music Addition at 7:55 to 8:45pm. I live in Foster. It is safe to walk at night from Foster to MA? If not, do you think the safest is to walk to the corner of 3rd St and Jordan Ave and take the campus bus to Kelley?

I’m a girl, and I’ve never had any issues walking around campus at night. Plus, 8:45 isn’t super late by IU standards. However, it’d be really easy to catch the A bus from 3rd and Jordan and take it right up to Foster. If you are going to walk back, I’d suggest walking with a group or walking up Jordan and taking a right on 10th to get back rather than walking through the woods in the middle of campus.

Gaille,

Parking.indiana.edu says that if you’re scared of walking back to your residence hall alone, you can actually call the IU Safety Escort (812) 855-SAFE. It’s a free service for all IU staff and student.
