do you think 15 units is a lot for first semester freshman? Has anyone experienced this?

i took 15 my first semester...i would say it's not that difficult, but it depends on the class

well im gonna take math 16a, chem 1a, english r1a, plant and microbial 10, and a 2-unit seminar class. What do you think?

what classes did you take during your first semester babiblu?

BlueElmo, I think that's doable (if your R1A's not the 6-unit one I took).

Do you have to take Math 16B later on if you took Math 16A?

BlueElmo, you still have to take math 1a and 1b for letters and science requirement, right? When are you taking those classes?

And will med schools accept math 16a for their calculus requirement?

twtib, you took a 6 unit r1a class? How was that?
theonlyone, i got a 5 on AP Calc BC test so I actually pass out of all math requreiments, but am taking math anyway for med school

i took...math16a, english 1a, music 27, anthro 1

babiblu, how was math 16a and enlighs 1a? Easy, hard, lots of work, etc?

english 1a was alright....it really depends on the teacher...mine graded pretty lightly so that was good
math 16a can be a surprise for a lot of people.. the first midterm was a bit too easy and so people stopped going to class and stopped caring mostly, then the 2nd midterm was a total shock (if you're not good at math)
but if put a decent amount of time and effor im sure you're do fine :D

who were your professors, babbilu?

Wait, you have to take the Math 1 Series even if you take the 16 series? I thought the 16 series would satisfy the requirement......

no, you take one or the other. that 15 unit schedule seems fine - i took 15 my first semester too.

I have 15 as well.

15 is fine. They advise 13 to 14 or 15, but I know some who took 17 to 19.

I might have 18 planned :(

Well, most people are in a position where they are able to drop something. Some people, in addition to that, add something, or drop a few things and add a few things- it depends on the person and the situation. I know a girl who suffled through 10 different classes last semester to end up in 17 units or so, but attended many a lecture for the first two weeks or so. Everyone should relax. Takes a deep breath, exhales.

:)

Shouldn't you take math 1a if you're in MCB? Where do you check if your ap credits satisfy MCB requirements?

i believe math 16a/16b is enough for Cell and Developtmental Biology/ Neruobiology in MCB.

I took 17 and it really wasnt anything at all. The classes were quite easy though. I'd say I did 1 hour of homework every Monday night and 2 hours every Sunday Night when there were no major papers.

I really had nothing to do at all my first semester, it was pretty boring.
