155 Index PSAT

Terrible score huh. I didn't try so hard, cause' I realized it was a PRACTICE Sat. But does this strongly reflect mY SAT score? I'm doing a whole 6 week course over summer and already doing an 8-week one right now during school. Possibility of bumping it to a 2100+?

Definitely. My friend got something around 160, but he is pretty smart (5 on AP Eng Lang, AP Bio buff, etc). After about 2-3 weeks of studying he can score in the 190s, 300 point improvement.

Are you a Junior?

hey well i got a 153 index on my PSAT. im taking the may 6th SAT and i don't know how to bump it up that well yet. thank goodness for april vaycay.

my friend recieved a 160 on his PSAT and ended up getting a 36 on his act the 2nd time he took it, first time was a 33...

Thanks for the inspiration guys, it's nice hearing these improvements. Mountain Dew, No I took it sophomore year, and I'm still a sophomore. Planning on taking it again in Junior. Thanks everybody. Any more input?

If you're still a sophomore, I think you should have a good chance of bringing that up to a decent score. You might want to try searching these boards for the Xiggi method. It's supposed to be pretty effective.

totoboyo- That is a faulty comparison because you don't know if that 166 PSAT measured your friend's full capacity (it didn't) and even if it did, I would seriously doubt he could have gotten close to a 36.

I had a 157 PSAT. I hope I can break 1700 this May. I didn't start prepping yet. :( Then I'll go for 1800 in October.

any other info on my possibility of 155 PSAT (sophomore) to a 2100 (Junior)?

My friend who scored the 160 is the president of the local chapter of mensa.. I doubt the PSAT was testing his full capability because even in my stats class he will go from a 100 on a test to a 67 on the next depending on whether or not he is, "ADD'ing" that day.

i got a 150 (maybe higher, don't know) or so on sophomore psat and got 207 on real sat in junior year with no extra preparation. you can definetley do it

thanks a lot longdaysahead. that made me feel a lot better haha. hopefully i have you're luck/improvement/skill during my testt.. any other scores??

mos def you can bring that up. buy a book, or five. prep books are amazing, and psat is easier in my mind (/was easier) to prepare for.

around 8 other kids i know (im a junior) prepared like i did for the psats, and we all ended up >200 at least, most >210. the ones who didnt care/prepare, though, didnt end up >200 for the most part.

its also really nice to do some sats for practice bc then when you take the psats they seem really easy.

Im a junior & I am in AP English Lang & AP American in high school..I am interested in getting into NYU or other selective schools.

In Oct. of this year I got a 157 on the PSAT
I started Kaplan and my grades have been 1490 and 1500
I have been doing my Kaplan hw but I have extreme difficulty with the SAT..my brain can't get around it for some reason. Any tips? Advice?? I NEEEED to raise my SAT scores a lot. I am taking them in June.

well. cj1989. Princeton Review's book basically says. 1500 = the average person. therefore. i'm guessing you got this area:
easy q's : all right
medium: half wrong half right
hard: mostly all wrong

princeton review's major lesson: easy ones. always use instinct
medium: take some time to choose right answer.
hard: elminate what you WOULD choose. and choose another one.
best of luck

bump bump bump

princeton review for SAT 1 is crap. . . micro/macro economics on the other hand is very good.

I think i have PR for new SAT. Not sure. i find it pretty useful. =]. Any other tips for study?
