I got a 1600/1600, but a 700 Writing, so:
Math: 800
CR: 800
Writing: 700 (730 from previous test)

I know I can strongly improve my writing score, but the only thing that's holding me back is, if I mess up CR next time (let's say I get a 750), will that detract from my initial 800. Will they see that as a fluke?

Im in a similar situation (780/800 CR/M, 710 Writing) and I’m retaking to bump up that writing score (even though there’s a chance I might do worse on CR).

You have a 2330 superscored, which is fine. Take it again and they might think you’re score obsessed. A 30 point drop in writing is within the projected band and nothing to worry about :)

I’m reminded of The West Wing, where President Bartlet told his doctor how he retook the SAT and got 1590 again. “Wait a second, you got a 1590…and took it again?”

Relax. You got a perfect score on the “old SAT”. Maybe you don’t appreciate how rare and special that is. Your “awful” writing score will be tempered by your application essays.
