1600 vs. 2400

Hey guys. I'm planning to apply to Penn (potential ED, either Wharton or CAS), but I was just a little concerned about my SAT scores. On the 1600 scale, I scored a 1510 (760 M+ 750 CR), but on the 2400 scale, I only scored a 2230. I know that isn't bad per se, but exactly how much does Penn factor in the writing section in comparison to the other 2? Thanks.

umm you got a 720… what are you bugging about i dont understand

I’m not really “bugging out”, but my 2400 score is pretty average for Penn. I’d be at an advantage if they didn’t count the writing section quite as much.

i got a 2230. on the 1600 scale i had a 1480. believe me, your scores won’t be the reason you don’t get in, if that’s the case. i got in and my scores are lower than yours. worry more about the rest of the app!

i had a 1410 CR and Math, and 2120 overall and still got in. So if you want to take it again, then by all means, go for it. But Im just saying that your scores are already pretty good.

“only a 2230”? well, if i can get in with only a 33 on the act, i’m sure you don’t need to worry about your scores adversely affecting your application. spend your time strengthening up everything else, especially your essays, as i’m convinced that they are what got me accepted.

Thanks, guys.
